“Way To Go” Art Contest
The 3rd national Safe Routes to School (SRTS) national conference will be held in Minneapolis August 16th-18th, 2011. In an effort to increase engagement in Minnesota, an art contest is being sponsored to provide children an outlet for sharing their own walking and/or biking experiences or their hopes for the future of cycling and walking as transportation.
Residents of Minnesota must be between 5 and 18 at the time of entry and entries can be a variety of types (music, video, story or drawing). More information can be found here: http://www.saferoutesconference.org/way-to-go-art-contest
Entries are due by 5pm on May 27th, 2011.
Minnesota GO
Have a say in the future of transportation planning! Mn/DOT is soliciting feedback from residents via MinnesotaGO on what the long-term vision of transportation should be through both in silico and in vivo means. This feedback will be used to craft the next statewide multimodal plan, which is predicted to be available for a public hearing in mid- to late-July.
Interactive workshops will be held throughout the state (light snacks provided!) in May and June, but the only metro-area location will be in Como Park at the Conservatory on Monday, May 23rd from 6:30-8:30pm
The online participation tool has numerous offerings, which account for a plethora of issues that affect transportation planning: What will be the impact of an aging population? How will technology change and how will it contribute? What are the top public health and environmental issues? Videos are provided from experts in their field complete with polls so that participants can comment. Additional input can be given through short quizzes and surveys.
A Facebook login can be used to sign up for access to the CitiZing interface but is not required as a separate username can be created.
